We ate lunch on the island of Capri, Italy. The menu listed five different salads. Husband perused the choices.

“May I have the salmon and arugula?” he asked.

“I’m sorry,” the server said. “We do not have that one today.”

“How about the grilled vegetable?”

“We don’t have that either.”

Husband received the same bad news regarding the Salad Nicoise.

“Then I guess I’ll have the Insalata Caprese,” he said.

The server beamed. “Excellent choice.” She turned to me. “The same for you, madam?”

“Do you ever have the other salads?” I asked.

The server looked uncomfortable. “No,” she said in a lowered voice. “This is the Island of Capri. All the visitors want the Capri salad. My boss put the other ones on the menu so it does not look so short.”
