This $25 fits-in-the-palm-of-your-hand device makes sure you’re breathing clean, moist air for a good night’s sleep, whether at home or on the road.
One downside of traveling to or living at a higher altitude (Hello, Lima, Las Vegas, Egypt, Denver…) is dry air. Waking up with a dry throat, scratchy eyes, and a stuffed nose is no fun. But since I started using the Fancii Cool Mist Personal Mini Humidifier, I’ve traded dry-air symptoms for restful, humidified sleep at home and on the road.
The genius of the Fancii is it converts any standard-sized plastic water bottle into a moisture-producing tank. You uncap the water bottle, attach the Fancii, turn it over, and turn it on. Voilà! Bring on the mist.
The Fancii takes three AA batteries, or you can power it via the included USB charging cable. It features three timer settings (which provide two, four, and six hours of continuous humidified air) and automatic shut-off after eight hours. I have yet to find a 16- or 20-ounce water bottle in the US or overseas that doesn’t fit the included adapter, which attaches the water bottle to the top of the Fancii.
Three easy-to-swap-out filters are also included; these should be changed every 1-2 months and replacements are readily available. I also bought the carrying case. The whole unit is just a smidge over four inches in diameter and four ounces in weight, making it an easy addition to my carry-on.
The Fancii’s decibel-rating is listed as less than 15, which translates to the barest hum. (Think a scarcely-there white noise machine.) In my experience, one 16-ounce bottle lasts about six nights.
I use my Fancii in Colorado to help me adapt to the altitude after traveling at sea level and when visiting places where the climate is dry (due to the environment or hotel air filtration system). I’ve even used it in the car and on long flights. (I put it on my tray table in Economy or on the ledge beside my head when I’m flying up front.)
Twist’s Take: Want clean, moist air when sleeping at home or on the road? Get “Fancii” and bring your own personal humidifier.
