It’s shockingly easy to find out which plug you will need in which country.

With electronics an essential part of traveling, it’s important they are powered up. That means bringing the correct plug.

I’ve made some mistakes relying on my memory. That’s how I ended up with a Type L (used in Italy) instead of a Type N in Brazil. (Both have three pins in a line, but Type N has a slightly different arrangement.) Once, I also grabbed a Type F (most of Europe) rather than a Type E when heading to Brussels. (The latter is the standard for France and Belgium.)

To avoid errors like these—or if you have no idea at all which plug you’ll need where—stop by CheckPlug before your next trip. Just enter where you’re coming from and where you’re going :

Voilà! A graphic appears showing the plugs and sockets of your country of origin and the plugs and sockets used in your destination country. It also lists recommended adapters.

Twist’s Take: Before you jet off on your next international adventure, check out CheckPlug to make sure you’re bringing the right plugs.
